Chin’s

I have three words for you: Pineapple fried rice.

My husband and I found this hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant on vacation in San Bernardo. There are various locations around San Diego, and I’d highly recommend you look them up. Their food and service were fantastic.

We indulged in pork and broccoli, veggie chow mein, and pineapple fried rice. The food was so good that we insisted on taking the leftovers back to our hotel, even though we had no fridge.

I also can’t believe I’ve never had fried rice with pineapple before – it seems like such a perfect combination overlooked by other Chinese restaurants! Until I find one closer to home, we’ll be dreaming of Chin’s.

I've had bizarre and delicious food from around the world. I am willing to try almost anything that won't give me internal parasites. Overall I enjoy things that are mildly spicy and love comfort food. I adore dives and hole in the wall restaurants, but I also like the gourmet and would like to think myself a gourmand at times. Don't like super sweet stuff and can say no to sweets but can't resist chips, salty snacks and depending on the time of month, a chocolate fiend. For the record, Chris is my partner in crime for food dive finds.

Favorite Places to Eat - Vietnamese hole in the wall in Hong Kong, De Medici in San Diego, Yankee Stadium Nathan hot dogs, etc.

Irresistible Snacks - Movie popcorn, Seaweed lavar wafers, Crunchy Cheetoes and Flaming Hot Cheetoes, rice cakes with cream cheese, etc.

I have some very interesting food tastes - I absolutely can't stand some things that others love (ex: cilantro), and I adore some things that people usually find strange. I am willing to try *most* things at least once, but am not a fan of foods that are unidentifiable. I love Tom Yum Goon soup (without the cilantro, of course) and anything Italian, especially pizza and gnocchi. I love exploring new restaurants, from the tiny, little ones to the fancy, famous ones. For me, restaurants are only as good as their food and their staff, so both are important to me. LOVE dessert, and I have a major sweet tooth.

I'm a dessertarian. I happily order dessert any time of the day and skip any meal necessary to make room. I love cooking and baking, especially family recipes.

Favorite desserts: Fudge-frosted chocolate cake, creamy tiramisu, exotic buttercreams, and vanilla crème brulee. I don't adore cooked fruit (i.e. pie).

Favorite foods: Homemade bread, ceasar salads, and anything veggie - spinach dips, veggies au gratin, grilled veggies with pesto. And I’m convinced that salads can be an artform if you try hard enough.
